How do we handle fashion product variants (size, color, fit, etc.) with PIM?

  • Fashion products often need a 3-level structure (G-P-C):
    • Grandparent = the style or collection (e.g. “Classic T-Shirt”).
    • Parent = the variation by color/material (e.g. “Classic T-Shirt – Red”).
    • Child = the SKU-level item (e.g. “Classic T-Shirt – Red – Size M”).
  • Attributes:
    • Grandparent holds shared info (name, main description, brand).
    • Parent holds color/material-specific info (color names, fabric composition, images).
    • Child holds size-specific info (size, fit measurements, SKU, stock info).
  • Images & assets:
    • Store general campaign images at the grandparent.
    • Store color/material visuals at the parent.
    • Store size-specific visuals (if needed, like scale/fit shots) at the child.
